Trent Alexander Arnold awarded top PFA honor

Trent Alexander Arnold added another achievement to his impressive-looking resume on Tuesday, with the Liverpool FC full-back being named the PFA Young Player of the Year for 2019-20.

Arnold became the recipient of the year-end award after securing the majority vote his fellow players across England. He was one among the six youngsters shortlisted for the PFA honour, the others being Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, Chelseaโ€™s Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, and Arsenal wonderkid Bukayo Saka.

The 21-year old displayed a brilliant run of form over the course of his side surging to Premier League title-winning glory last season. Liverpool FC ended the 2019-20 campaign with a total of 99 points, a new club record for the Anfield giants.

Arnoldโ€™s contribution on the pitch towards the Redsโ€™ historic season was unrivalled in every aspect of the game. He registered as many as 13 assists during the 38-game Premier League campaign, a new record in English top-flight football for a defender. Besides his knack of setting teammates up with his wonder of a right foot, the English international also found the back of the net on four occasions.

The youngster was an ever-present part of the Liverpool FC backline that kept 15 clean sheets across the 2019-20 season, during which Arnold did not miss any of the league fixtures for his boyhood side.
