AC Milan offered the chance to sign soon-to-be-free agent Naby Keita

AC Milan have been offered the chance to sign soon-to-be-free agent Naby Keita whose contract with Liverpool expires this summer.

Liverpool have reportedly decided against handing a new deal to Keita who has failed to make an impression on the Anfield faithful since his big-money move from Leipzig four years ago.

Keita’s exit in this summer’s transfer window, with the Guinean midfielder likely to be followed by Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain and Arthur Melo out the exit door, could mean that the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp brings in a fresh face to bolster his engine room.

According to a report from the Italian news outlet Calciomercato, AC Milan could be in line to sign Keita on a free transfer over the summer with the San Siro outfit being given a chance to land the 28-year-old Liverpool man.

Keita has courted plenty of attention ahead of becoming a free agent later this year with a return to Germany also said to be considered by the player and his representatives although reports of a move to Turkish club Galatasaray have been rubbished.
