Adrian has admitted to being on the manager’s call whenever required to step into manning the goalposts for Liverpool FC following the Spaniard’s influential showing against Sheffield United last weekend.
The ex-Hammers goalie was a force to reckon with in the Liverpool FC goal when facing the Blades on the road in top-flight football and made a couple of brilliant saves early on in the first half to keep his side in the contest.
Second-half goals from the visitors sealed a much-needed victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men and took the defending champions to just two points adrift of the top-four spot and Adrian says his determination to perform has not deterred despite his sitting out of Klopp’s first-team plans.
“To be fair, my mentality and character always was the same the moment when I signed for Liverpool. You need to be ready for anything and try to help the team as much as I can,’ said Adrian to the club’s official website.
“The manager gave me the opportunity and this time it was the situation with Ali and his dad passing away. So obviously we have to be ready as always and everyone pushes each other. That was my opportunity tonight.
“I’m really happy, not just for the clean sheet and the three points, but for the work from all the lads.”
Jurgen Klopp had voiced lavish praise for his third fiddle in the goalkeeping department at Anfield in the aftermath of Sunday’s clash at Bramall Lane as the Liverpool FC boss’ first-choice option Alisson had to sit out due to personal reasons.
