The visitors survived a scare in the first minute when Ajax man Steven Berghuis hit the woodwork after a one-two with Brian Brobbey.

Jorge Sanchez’s curler called Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson into action to make a rather routine save while on the other end of the pitch, Andy Robertson hit the side netting.

Liverpool had a lead to enjoy just before the half time whistle with the skipper Jordan Henderson teeing up Mohamed Salah for a clever dink over Remko Pasveer to make it 1-0.

Nunez hit the post from close range in what should have been Liverpool’s second goal of the game after Firmino laid the ball for his strike partner.

The Reds resumed play like before and Nunez got on the scoresheet this time with the forward glancing a header from Robertson’s out-swinging corner.

Harvey Elliott joined in on the action to make it 3-0 for Liverpool just minutes after Nunez had scored with the former striking from a tight angle.

There was not much to come from the home side Ajax to trouble Liverpool in the final stages of the game with Jurgen Klopp’s men securing their entry into the next round.
