Alberto Moreno Set to Join La Liga Club Villarreal

Spanish left back Alberto Moreno is closing in on a move to join Spanish side Villarreal following the end of his stint at Liverpool.

It was quite a perfect way for Alberto Moreno to end his stint with Liverpool as the club finished the season as Champions League winners following an incredible season in the Premier League as well, finishing second on the table.

However, Klopp wants to dethrone Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and desperate to end the Anfield faithful’s 30-year long wait for a Premier League title. In order to do so, the German boss is downsizing and trying to make his Liverpool team as efficient as possible.

One player who is leaving the club this summer is defender Alberto Moreno as the 26-year-old has lacked regular football at Merseyside over the past two seasons. The rise of Scotland captain Andrew Robertson has kept Moreno completely out of the team and Liverpool decided not to extend his contract at the club as it expires this summer.

There were a few top clubs interested in Moreno including Premier League side Arsenal. However, the former Sevilla left-back is set on a return to Spain to join Villarreal on a free transfer.

Moreno will join Villarreal on July 1st as contract talks have been going on for a few weeks. The Spaniard joined Liverpool back in 2014 from Sevilla for a transfer fee of around €18 million and will be used as reinforcements for the Yellow Submarine as they look to better their position on the La Liga table.
