Injury Update

Alisson Becker could be in line to start Saturday’s fixture against Sheffield United

In his pre-game interview ahead of Sheffield United’s visit to Anfield for game week 6 of the 2020-21 Premier League season, Jurgen Klopp suggested that the injured Alisson Becker is not necessarily sidelined for the upcoming league fixture, according to a report from Liverpoolfc.com.

The Brazillian international has been missing from action ever since sustaining a shoulder injury in training prior to Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win over Arsenal and has been deputised by Adrian between the sticks, with the Spaniard enduring a shaky run of form in goal for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

When pressed upon by reporters to comment upon Alisson’s availability for the clash against the Blades, Klopp was reluctant to confirm the 27-year old goalkeeper being fit enough to start the game for the Premier League champions, however, added that a call on Alisson, as well as the duo of Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, will be taken after training on Friday afternoon.

“I don’t know. We have training after the press conference, so we will see who is out there. You can only be in contention if you are in training.

“Look, in my situation, I don’t want to rule anybody out until someone tells me and so far, nobody told me. Maybe I should have listened better!

“But for me, everybody apart from the three I mentioned are in contention until somebody tells me different.”

The Liverpool FC boss also stated that summer signing Kostas Tsimikas is nearing a return to first-team training following the Greek full-back being sidelined for recent weeks, owing to a thigh injury.
