Alisson Will Take Some Time To Return Says Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson Becker will take some time to return to action for the club following his injury.

The Reds are still sitting pretty at the summit of the Premier League table as they are the only club in England’s top-flight that have kept their 100 percent record intact after four games.  But Liverpool was dealt a massive blow on the opening day of the season as star goalkeeper Alisson Becker limped off the pitch at Anfield after taking a goal kick in the first half of the game.

Alisson was superb for Liverpool last season after arriving from AS Roma in a £60 million deal helping them to the Champions League title as well as winning the Golden Glove by keeping the most number of clean sheets last season in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s second choice keeper Adrian has done quite a steady job in goal deputizing for Alisson as the Spaniard helped the Merseyside club to win the UEFA Super Cup earlier last month. But Klopp has stated that it might take some time for Alisson to return back from his calf injury with that being the latest update on the 26-year-old keeper.

Klopp told reporters that he does not want to rush his number one back and even though he is making a recovery, it will take him some time to get back to his best, “He [has] made steps, of course, but it was a proper injury, so it will still take time, How it always is with professional sportsmen, when you have a muscle thing and it takes long, then it takes a while as well until you can bring the muscle to at least the same level it was before. A calf muscle is pretty important for jumping – and for a goalie, it is quite important that you can jump from time to time, so it will take time.”
