According to the newest reports, Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson will not be signing a new deal with the club as the truth is that the club has not made any offer yet.
Earlier this week there were rumors which stated that the Scottish international will be signing a bumper new deal because of his impressive performances over the past 12 months. Robertson has been a key outlet on the left-hand side of the pitch for Liverpool in attack as well as defense. The 24-year-old has solved the long-term left-back issues at Liverpool with supremity and made the Reds title challengers.
However, there is no solid foundation that Robertson will be receiving a new contract from the club which was set to double his wages to £60,000 a week. Liverpool Echo has claimed that all these rumors are ‘false’ and there is no contract offer for Robertson at the moment.
Robertson still has three and a half years left on his current contract which expires in the summer of 2022 and the Anfield officials wanted to assure that the defender was not viewed negatively. If Robertson was ‘falsely’ offered a new contract, there would also be rumors that the Scotsman was stalling signing a new contract.
Having arrived for just £10 million from relegated side Hull City last summer, Robertson has been a revelation under Jurgen Klopp and has gone on to impress at Liverpool keeping out Spanish left-back Alberto Moreno out of the first team since December.
Robertson has helped Liverpool to the Champions League final and is a vital player for the Merseyside outfit but despite being offered a relatively low wage in comparison to other teammates, Liverpool Echo claims that the defender’s contract is heavily incentivized and he is still being financially rewarded.
It’s very sensible for Liverpool Echo to rubbish the claims that Robertson is offered a new contract because that’s just how unnecessary rumors start to float around. Liverpool is doing great this season and Robertson will play a hugely important role if they are to win silverware.
