Jurgen Klopp explains Andy Robertson’s absence for the FA Cup clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Andy Robertson sat out the weekend FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest due to an illness.

The Scotland skipper has tested positive for COVID-19, clarified Klopp ( via a report from Goal’s Neil Jones), with the full-back in line to miss his country’s forthcoming international friendlies later this month.

He joins his fellow full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold on the sidelines for the forthcoming weeks with the latter’s hamstring injury ruling him out of international duty with Gareth Southgate’s England.

Robertson was missing from the Liverpool side that turned up at the City Ground on Sunday to clinch a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a second half strike from dangerman Diogo Jota which broke the deadlock and proved to be the winner for his side.

The Merseysiders have now set up a semi-final contest against arch rivals Manchester City with the tie set to take place six or seven days after the high-billed Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium next month.
