Andy Robertson makes big admission over Premier League title race

Ensuring that the recent streak of uninspiring showings takes a turn for the best is of huge importance to Liverpool FC’s chances of retaining their second successive Premier League crown, says Andy Robertson.

Two draws on the run for Jurgen Klopp’s men, coupled with Manchester United’s brilliant run of form has meant that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have moved level on points with their arch-rivals at the top of the league standings.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Robertson spoke in detail about how the Merseysiders need to regain their earlier red-hot form, with the Liverpool FC left-back adding that this season’s race for the top-flight title would be far different as compared to last year, in which Jurgen Klopp’s side had emerged victorious with a grand total of 99 points.

“Over the last two years or even three years – and no disrespect to those clubs – but last season we would have won those games,” Robertson said.

“And if you add two points to every one of those games then the league table is looking a lot different and we’re sitting pretty happy, but you know, this season is going to be unique. I think there are seven or eight teams – once the games in hand have been played that are within three points of us at the top, and it’s going to be a unique season as I said.

Following their goalless stalemate against bottom-half opposition Newcastle United last time around in league action, Liverpool FC will visit Southampton as they hope to bounce back from a recent downward spiral in form.
