The game between Aston Villa and Liverpool was full of suspense until the very end. Liverpool was up 3-1 until the final moments, then Aston Villa tied it up thanks to Jhon Duran who came off the bench to score two quick goals.
The match began with excitement right away. Liverpool got ahead first. Within two minutes into the game, an own goal by Aston Villa’s goalie, Emiliano Martinez, gave them the advantage.
Harvey Elliott, from the right for Liverpool, rushed into the box and his pass was somehow kicked into the net by Martinez, who couldn’t collect the ball. Liverpool had the upper hand in the start as Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo both had their vital chances to score. Yet, the home team, Aston Villa, made the score even at 12th minute.
Youri Tielemans put one in for Villa after a great pass from Ollie Watkins, who sped down Liverpool’s right side to help score the goal.
Aston Villa continued to press. Leon Bailey made two close attempts, both blocked. However, it was Liverpool who scored next. A quick counter-attack led Gakpo to find the net from a low cross by Gomez. The goal was confirmed after a long VAR check for offside.
As the first half neared its end, both teams tried to go ahead. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long-range shot went wide, and Salah’s effort was ruled offside.

The second half began just like the first half. Liverpool increased their lead to 3-1 within three minutes of the restart. Jarell Quansah headed in an Elliott free-kick, hitting the far post before going in.
Aston Villa also had a goal chalked off when Watkins found the net, only for VAR again to intervene and declare the goal offside. It was not to be Liverpool’s last goal ruled out, either, as Diaz was marginally offside before Elliott put the ball in the net.
With 15 minutes remaining, Liverpool made four changes in one go: Ryan Gravenberch, Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Curtis Jones all coming on. And it was the latter who made the first intervention on Martinez, forcing the Villa goalkeeper to get down and make the save.
Aston Villa fought back magnificently as the match drew to a close. Substitute Jhon Duran scored two goals in quick succession, leveling things up at 3-3. His second was a deflected shot from Diaby.

In added time, Alisson managed to save from Diaby to make sure Liverpool took a point from this unbelievable game back to Merseyside. The game could easily have been 6-4 to either team; it was a game that proved more than any other how football can be so unpredictable and thrilling, right up to the final whistle.
