According to Matthäus, it is pretty certain that Thiago wishes to leave the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. The former player claimed that had he not wanted to leave Bayern; the Spaniard would have signed a new contract by now.
Thiago has been a fantastic player for Bayern Munich since joining the German club back in 2013. The Spanish international had been tempted to move to Bayern from FC Barcelona after his former coach Pep Guardiola had been unveiled as the manager of the Bundesliga side. Since then, the 29 year old Thiago has made 231 competitive appearances for the Bavarians.
The 2019-20 season has Thiago being benched often by the new Bayern coach Hansi Flick. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the CEO of Bayern Munich, had admitted to the strong possibility of Thiago leaving the club. Rummenigge had explained Thiago’s desire of playing in another league with the Spaniard nearing the age of 30.
