Liverpool FC close in on Bayern Munich star Thiago’s signing

Reports suggest that Thiago Alcantara could well be Liverpool FC’s first summer signing the coming weeks. The Bayern Munich midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield ever since the player refused to extend his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

It is believed that negotiations between the Reds and Bayern have now reached the final stages. A fee of €35 million to be paid is, however, being mulled over by Liverpool FC. There is a possibility that the Reds may pay Bayern Munich’s asking price in periodic installments.

The 29-year old Thiago has been very keen on sealing his transfer to the newly crowned Premier League champions. The Spanish international is said to have conveyed his desire to the Bayern Munich board. With Thiago about to enter his 30s, the player is reported to have considered moving away from Germany for the remainder of his playing career.

The Spaniard has been subject to praise from Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp in the past. While Klopp had signed Naby Keita for the Reds from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, the Liverpool FC coach had stated that Thiago and Keita were the best players playing in Germany’s top-flight football.

Signing Thiago could prove to a creative masterstroke by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool FC. The Bayern Munich midfielder is very skillful both on and off the ball. Such a creative spark is currently missing from Liverpool FC’s midfield department.

The departure of Philippe Coutinho in 2018 had led to a more defensive-minded midfield being used by Klopp. Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Gini Wijnaldum all possess more defensive talent rather than going forward and creating attacks for their side.

With the impending departure of Adam Lallana at the end of July, Thiago’s signing could complement Lallana leaving the Merseyside club. Moreover, Naby Keita’s future at Liverpool FC is doubtful considering the midfielder’s lack of impact on Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Jurgen Klopp would no doubt be hoping to strengthen his Premier League winning squad more by signing new players. Thiago presents himself as a player who is yearning to play for the Reds. Furthermore, the Spaniard’s signing could prove to a major boost for Liverpool FC’s future success in winning trophies.
