Bayern Munich star’s recent comments casts doubt over potential Liverpool transfer

In a fresh twist to a prolonged period of speculation indicating that Thiago Alcantara is nearing a move to Liverpool FC, the player has refused to confirm his intention of leaving Bayern Munich beyond this summer in a recent interview.

With the player’s current deal with the Champions League winners ending next summer, the Bundesliga giants are willing to part ways with him ahead of next season in the hope of pocketing a rumoured £27 million transfer fee. However, Liverpool FC’s insistence on lowering the stipulated amount is causing a major delay over making Thiago’s move to the Anfield outfit a reality.

And the player has now spoken about the matter at hand, indicating his intention to stay at the Allianz Arena if the present situation is not solved until the transfer window deadline scheduled for the first week of October.

Speaking to reporters after Spain’s 1-1 draw with Germany in the UEFA Nations League, a game in which the 29-year old displayed a fantastic showing, Thiago asserted his love for Bayern, amid increasing speculation of him joining the Merseyside club.

‘I only think about the game against Ukraine. Afterwards, we will see.

‘Bayern is my home and I am happy to be there.’

Besides the Reds, Manchester United too remain keen on signing the 29-year old midfielder. Jurgen Klopp’s side, however, are tipped to be in the pole position to land the Spanish international’s signature after Bayern’s attempts to extend Thiago’s stay proved futile.
