Ben Davies is said to be close to leaving Liverpool to join Scottish outfit Rangers this summer in a deal of around £4 million, according to a report from The Guardian.
Davies has never turned out in the Reds shirt nearly a year and a half into his move to Anfield during the injury crisis in the Liverpool defensive ranks which forced the club to recruit Davies from Preston North End.
The 25-year-old central defender was shipped out to Sheffield United last term in a season-long loan arrangement and Davies has been eyed up by a number of clubs in this summer’s transfer window following his return to the Liverpool fold.
Rangers man Calvin Bassey is nearing the competition of a transfer to Ajax and Davies is being lined up as the replacement for the former with Liverpool set to earn a £4 million fee on parting ways with the centre-back.
The likes of Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City and Burnley had been the other sides vying for the Liverpool outcast who was rumoured to be all but certain to head out the exit door before the summer window slammed shut.
