Brighton ace Ben White has insisted that interest from both Liverpool FC and Leeds United this summer in signing him did not seem to affect his focus while turning out for the Seagulls.
The 22-year-old English central defender became a major target for a number of clubs across the country after his fantastic loan spell at Leeds United last season in the Whites’ promotion to the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were considered to be the frontrunners in the widely contested race to land White’s singing, however, the defender ended up staying put at the Amex and has started the 2020-21 season on a strong note with him now being a regular first-team starter for Graham Potter’s outfit.
When asked upon the rumours linking him with an exit from Brighton this summer in an interview to Argus, White said that he had been able to shut the speculation out of his mind, and instead focused on giving his best for the Seagulls upon his return from a season-long loan spell.
“I shut it out. It wasn’t an issue for me, really.
“I just concentrated on the games I had at Leeds and just focussed on that.”
The Reds are still reportedly in the fray to make a move for the Brighton man following a recent bout of injury troubles to first-team centre-back stars affecting the defensive core of the Premier League champions.
