Liverpool plotting January move for Brighton’s Ben White

Brighton’s first-teamer Ben White’s name is being linked with a move to Liverpool FC, in the January transfer window, reports from the Football Insider suggest.

The 22-year old defender has become a regular fixture for Graham Potter’s side since the opening day of the 2020-21 Premier League campaign after his terrific showings for Leeds United last season in the Championship.

Despite being a rumoured target for the Reds this summer, White ended up staying at the Amex, however, a recent long-term injury layoff for Virgil van Dijk would mean that Jurgen Klopp will be eyeing a swoop for the Brighton man.

The Dutch international had to be taken off the pitch in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Everton as a result of Jordan Pickford’s challenge, and later reports confirmed that the 29-year old could be sidelined for upto 7-8 months with damaged knee ligaments.

Jurgen Klopp has Joel Matip and Joe Gomez as the sole senior centre-back options within the Anfield ranks, and thus a move for White in the winter transfer window would make sense for the Premier League champions to carry on their title-defence with full flow.
