Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino set to leave Liverpool this summer

Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino is reportedly set to leave Liverpool this summer as he seeks a fresh challenge elsewhere after an eight-year-long stint on Merseyside.

Firmino is out of contract at Anfield come the end of the season and his future with Jurgen Klopp’s side had been the subject of much speculation with other clubs eyeing a move for him on a free transfer.

According to a report from Sky Germany, it is indicated that Firmino has decided to move on and has conveyed his decision to the Liverpool board despite Klopp’s desire to retain his long serving frontman beyond the summer window.

The 31-year-old attacker will be a part of the Liverpool fold until the end of the ongoing campaign in which the Reds face a stern test in their pursuit of Champions League football next season which looks difficult as things stand for now.

Klopp’s men are six points adrift of the fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand over the North Londoners and the upcoming clash against Manchester United holds much importance for the Merseysiders.
