Brighton are keen on a bargain deal to sign Liverpool man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the January transfer window closes on Tuesday.
Chamberlain has been tipped to leave Anfield either this month or in the summer when his contract with Liverpool is due to expire and the former Arsenal starlet would be all but certain to seek a move elsewhere.
There is growing Premier League interest in the one-time England international’s services and joining the chase for Chamberlain are Brighton with the south coast outfit looking for a replacement for Leandro Trossard who recently signed for Arsenal.
The 29-year-old is into six months of his current terms at Anfield and according to a report from talkSPORT, Brighton are open to handing him a career lifeline only if he is available for nothing.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will allow the midfielder to head out the exit door for free even as Jurgen Klopp’s side would be glad to see the back of a player who has failed to perform consistently in recent years.
