Chris Wilder says Brewster might start against his former side come Saturday at Anfield

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has claimed that ex-Red Rhian Brewster is in line to make his full debut for the Blades when the youngster’s new club visit Anfield on Saturday as the Premier League gets underway once again after a week-long break.

The 20-year old Brewster completed a big-money move to Brammall Lane this summer after it had become clear that he was not in Jurgen Klopp’s immediate first-team plans at the Merseyside outfit. Brewster signed a long-term deal with the Blades and joins last season’s dark horses as their marquee signing for the 2020-21 season.

However, the player has not started a game for Sheffield United so far, which has made people believe that the English starlet could be handed an opportunity to lead the line for the Blades upon their upcoming game against the Premier League champions.

Speaking ahead of his team’s trip to the Merseyside to Telegraph, Wilder said about the Liverpool old boy, “He’s an infectious character.

“It was a difficult decision for me on Sunday whether to start him or bring him off the bench. He’s had another week’s training so he’s put himself right in the frame to be involved at the weekend and to start as well. He’s really at the forefront of our thinking.

“There is no hesitation. He’s pushing. His natural ability and talent is there to be seen and everybody has seen that already. It’s just from the physical side of it, not opening him up to injury. But we want him to play a week’s training has not done him any hard at all and he’s been bright and bubbly. He’s definitely in our thoughts to start on Saturday evening.”

Brewster starting the match for the Blades would mean that the Liverpool FC backline will have another challenge on their hands at Anfield, which will be stopping the rapid and clinical striker in his tracks, and with Virgil van Dijk’s long-term absence and Joel Matip being a major doubt for Saturday, Jurgen Klopp’s men are in for a tough 90 minutes.
