Anfield hero Jamie Carragher has said that Liverpool are struggling to cope with the spending done by their rivals in the Premier League who have brought in big-money signings this summer.
Manchester United have snapped up the highly-rated Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and are in line to land Raphael Varane as well while Premier League holders Manchester City look keen on making a move for Jack Grealish.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side have only announced the arrival of Ibrahima Konate with the young French centre-back set to shore up Klopp’s existing names at the back ahead of the new season’s start.
Carragher, however, seems unconvinced over Liverpool’s business so far in this summer’s transfer window with the player-turned-pundit claiming that the Reds could fail to mount a serious challenge for the top-flight crown should they not add to their first-team options before the window slams shut.
Reports from TeamTalk claim Carragher voicing his concerns over Liverpool failing to bring in fresh blood for their midfield and attacking departments which has witnessed outgoings from the Anfield camp.
“I think in terms of numbers it’s not a problem, I think it is in terms of quality.”
“If we didn’t bring in another addition it may be difficult to knock Man City off the top, and let’s not forget Chelsea, the European champions, and Manchester United, who have had a great window with (Raphael) Varane and (Jadon) Sancho.
“I’d like to see someone who could get goals, whether that’s from midfield or part of the front three.
“I am just wary a little bit with Liverpool, after last season going into this season, as to whether there are enough goals in the team for them to go and win the title.
