Ibrahima Konate is handed a start by Jurgen Klopp with Liverpool taking on Southampton in Premier League action at Anfield.
The French defender comes in for Joel Matip who drops down to the bench for some well-earned rest with another big change for Liverpool in Andy Robertson’s return to the starting role.
Major changes in the backline for the home side
Andy Robertson replaces Kostas Tsimikas in the left-back slot with the latter having to provide cover in light of Robertson’s injury during the recent international break.
Matip is given rest by Klopp who has his summer signing Ibrahima Konate deputising alongside Virgil van Dijk at centre-back with Joe Gomez still on the sidelines with a calf injury.
Jordan Henderson returns to the XI
Skipper and midfield general Jordan Henderson features on the starting team sheet after his recent cameos off the bench following his injury scare in the break.
In the forward lineup, Takumi Minamino drops out of the XI to make way for Diogo Jota who featured on the bench in the midweek win over Porto in the Champions League.
