Curtis Jones close to penning a contract extension with Liverpool

Curtis Jones is rumoured to be close to penning a contract extension with Liverpool who are out to future-proof their midfield roster.

The 21-year-old is on the verge of agreeing upon extended terms at Anfield with a wage hike in the offing for Jones who has spent the majority of the season so far out on the sidelines with an injury he picked up during the pre season tour.

According to a report from The Times, Liverpool are nearing completion of Jones renewing his deal on Merseyside with Jurgen Klopp looking to secure his options in the centre of the park for the years to come.

Liverpool’s midfield has come under much fire in the new campaign owing to Klopp’s inability to freshen the old faces in the summer window and the recurring injury troubles for the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Loan signing Arthur Melo, who arrived on deadline day from Juventus, is yet to make his debut outing for Liverpool with the Brazilian midfielder sustaining an injury which has ruled him out until after the New Year.
