Curtis Jones is reportedly set to miss Liverpool’s season opener against Fulham with a calf issue after a knock he picked up in the last pre-season game against Strasbourg.
The young midfielder’s injury would come as another setback to the Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp who has lost the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita to the sidelines ahead of the weekend’s clash at Craven Cottage.
According to a report from The Daily Mail, Jones could set for a brief spell away from the Liverpool fold with Klopp hoping that his player returns as early as in the next couple of weeks.
Jones on the recovery table means another first-team member short in the midfield department with both Chamberlain and Keita also in line to sit out the upcoming game for Klopp’s Merseysiders against the league’s new boys Fulham.
The trip to Craven Cottage on Saturday is when last season’s runners-up Liverpool kick-start their Premier League campaign before playing hosts Crystal Palace at Anfield a week later.
