Dayot Upamecano to leave RB Leipzig this summer amid strong interest from Liverpool

Dayot Upamecano will stage an exit from RB Leipzig in the summer as top clubs across Europe circle around to make a move for the highly-rated central defender.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC are one amongst a host of big-name sides wanting to sign the Frenchman, with the Merseyside giants reeling in constant troubles on the injury front to key first-team regulars in the defensive department.

Long-term layoffs, potential season-ending ones as well, for both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez had given birth to talk that Klopp might attempt to poach through a move for the 22-year-old Upamecano this January transfer window in order to add serious firepower to an injury-depleted backline.

However, recent reports from the Guardian claim that Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are turning down the chance to part ways with their defensive colossus midway through the top-flight campaign and will only let go of the France international in the summer, albeit for a cut-price fee.

A price in the region of €42 million would be sought after by Leipzig for offloading Upamecano this summer, with Liverpool FC joined by Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to land the centre-back’s signature.
