Diogo Jota reveals future ambitions at Liverpool following impressive start to Anfield life

Liverpool FC’s latest attacking recruit Diogo Jota has outlined his ambitions going forward into his life at Anfield as the Merseysiders’ summer purchase works his way to full fitness from a nasty knee injury.

Jota’s summer move to Anfield last August was followed up with a dazzling set of displays being put out by the Portugal international, with Jurgen Klopp’s side adding yet another star presence to the already star-studded frontline.

The 23-year-old found the back of the net nine times in 17 outings, including an away Champions League hat-trick against Atalanta, before a knee injury curtailed the former Wolves man’s game-time for the Anfield outfit.

Speaking to Liverpool FC’s matchday programme, as reported by the Daily Mail, Jota revealed that the knee injury had brought about complications in his new pastures at Merseyside, however, he remains focused on giving his best upon his return to the first-team fold at Anfield.

‘Knee injuries are always complicated so we cannot rush things, but I am doing well and I will be back on the field as soon as possible. When I’m fit I know I’ll give my best in each training session to give myself a chance of playing.

‘In Portugal they used to say the hardest thing is not to arrive but to stay there. So that of course is my target. Now that I have achieved a move to Liverpool I want to be a big influence in this club and that’s what I try to do every day.’

Jota’s injury is understood to have forced out Jurgen Klopp’s plans of offloading fringe first-teamer Xherdan Shaqiri this January transfer window, with the Swiss international now seen as pivotal to the injury-depleted squad depth in the ranks of the Merseyside giants.
