Injury Update

Liverpool could miss Diogo Jota to recent injury blow for a period of two months

Diogo Jota could be sidelined for the next two months as recent reports from Metro indicate that the Portuguese international forward’s recently sustained knee injury in the mid-week Champions League tie against FC Midtjylland on Wednesday looks worse than feared before.

Jota’s attacking exploits upfront for Jurgen Klopp’s side have propelled the Merseysiders to a great start to the new season, but the forward’s injury trouble looks all set to curtail his game-time on the pitch for an upcoming couple of months.

As the Merseysiders gear up to visit Craven Cottage on Sunday in the Premier League, the usual combine of Mohammad Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino is expected to be fielded by Klopp as the Reds grapple with further troubles on the injury front just two months into the new campaign.

Jota’s knee injury had made the 23-year-old doubtful for featuring the weekend clash against Fulham, however, Klopp had not made any fresh comments on his new signing’s future availability, which now looks to be curtailed until February 2021.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s hasty return to the first-team fold at Anfield does provide the Reds with additional attacking options but Jota’s absence will surely be felt by the Premier League holders considering the impact he has had on Klopp’s side in such a short span of time.
