Diogo Jota wants to provide confidence to Liverpool with his return on the pitch

A fit-again Diogo Jota has admitted to being wanting to provide some much-needed confidence to a misfiring Liverpool FC outfit with his return on the pitch.

Jota was brought off the bench last Thursday in the midweek top-flight meeting between Jurgen Klopp’s side and Chelsea for the final thirty minutes or so, the Portugal international’s first piece of on-field action since the backend of last year.

Come Sunday at Anfield when the under-fire Reds play hosts to bottom side Fulham, Jota is tipped to be in line to replace the out-of-sorts Roberto Firmino in the XI for the hosts and the 23-year-old says in an interview to the club’s official website he desires of helping his side with goals and bring about some much-required winning ways back for the defending champions of England.

“Just a new boost in terms of confidence and, let’s say like this, freshness because obviously they’ve been playing and fighting for the club.

“I feel like I could be like a winter transfer. So that’s what I hope so they can rely on me and think I can help them in the future.

“But it was good, I played around 35 minutes and felt good. So I just need to keep training hard and with game time I think I’ll be at my best again very soon.”

“I want to help the team and I know scoring goals is important, but at the moment we just need to all stay together because it’s a hard moment – not just for me but for the team.

“We all need to push from the same side and hopefully on Sunday we can get back to winning ways.”

The ex-Wolves forward had been a major influential figure for Klopp’s outfit prior to injuring his knee in European football last December and was forced to watch two months worth of action from the sidelines.

With the Reds lacking goalscoring numbers in recent times, Jota’s return to the fold is sure to provide Klopp with a key component of the attacking setup at Anfield.
