Fabinho becomes the latest first-team star to sign new deal with Liverpool

Liverpool’s Brazillian midfield mainstay Fabinho has followed Trent Alexander-Arnold in penning a long-term contract extension at Anfield, confirm reports from the club’s official website.

Fabinho had been backed to agree upon extended terms with the Merseyside giants after his influential set of showings for Jurgen Klopp’s injury-ravaged outfit across the 2020-21 campaign.

The former AS Monaco man had been called upon by Klopp to operate in the centre-back role for Liverpool with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all sidelined for the season with long-term injury layoffs.

Fabinho had proven his worth to the Anfield camp by putting together a more than a decent string of performances at the back and his return to the centre of the park for Liverpool had seen Klopp’s men ensure a top-four finish in the Premier League standings.

The 27-year-old Brazil international’s previous deal at Anfield was in line to conclude in the summer of 2023 and Liverpool reacted swiftly to ensure other clubs did not circle around for their star player’s signature this summer.
