Fabinho plays down Mohammad Salah’s chances of leaving Liverpool

Big-name players in world football have constantly been involved in transfer speculation, says Liverpool FC ace Fabinho amid the recent reports suggesting that his teammate Mohammad Salah could be on the way out of Anfield this summer.

The Egyptian international’s long-term future in the Reds shirt hangs in the balance following him claiming in an interview that it was an honour to be linked with the likes of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid even as the Merseyside outfit are attempting to tie down the former AS Roma man to a new and improved deal at Anfield.

Fabinho, however, is not concerned over the talk surrounding his colleague’s future for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with the former insisting that Salah’s stature in the game allowed for his name to be linked with other top clubs across Europe before adding that the 28-year-old attacker strives to perform better whilst in the Liverpool FC colours.

“Big players will always have their names involved in rumours,” said Fabinho, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“Salah plays for Liverpool, one of the biggest teams in the world. So I think it’s normal to see his name linked to other teams, especially from different leagues.

“Anyway, I see him very happy here and pleased with his performances this season. He’s very demanding with himself; he wants to be the best, he wants to help the team and works hard for it.

“It’s always been the case, and it hasn’t changed at all. He keeps scoring goals, which everyone is used to seeing. In the changing room, he’s always talking to everyone and making jokes.

“I don’t see anything affecting him. Overall, I am not following the news, so I’m not sure about any rumours. As I said, top-quality players will always be linked to big clubs.”

The Brazillian midfielder Fabinho himself has been subject to plenty of chatter of late as reports have indicated that Jurgen Klopp is keen on tabling a much-improved deal for the player to sign, extending his tenure at Anfield following his rise up the first-team ranks for the Merseysiders.
