Fabrizio Romano provides update over Roberto Firmino’s contract extension talks

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remains keen to retain his frontman Roberto Firmino beyond this coming summer when the latter’s terms are up for renewal.

Firmino’s future has been the subject of much talk as of late with the Brazilian forward, who has been impressive for an otherwise disappointing Liverpool this term, out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season.

Transfer guru Romano, however, has issued an update saying that Liverpool could be in line to table a short term deal for the 31-year-old Firmino who has voiced his intention to stay put with the Merseysiders and pen a new contract.

Liverpool’s No.9 may well remain with Jurgen Klopp’s side past the end of this current term even as rumours in recent weeks have suggested a move elsewhere for Firmino with the likes of Real Madrid credited with an interest in his services.

Klopp will be hoping to retain his long serving forward despite the Liverpool head coach planning a major rebuild of his squad over the summer after a streak of disappointing showings this season.
