FC Barcelona presidential candidate sparks Jurgen Klopp appointment rumours

Jordi Farre, a candidate for the presidential position at FC Barcelona, has claimed that Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp has been contacted by the Spanish club over a possible move to Spain in the coming years.

The manager of the Merseyside giants remains a key target for some of the biggest clubs in world football such as FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Klopp’s stock within the industry has increased massively over the past few seasons owing to the success he has achieved at Anfield.

Farre will go up against the very controversial current president of the Spanish club, Josep Maria Bartomeu, in the elections that are scheduled to be held next year. Bartomeu’s reign at the club has come under sharp criticism from the club’s supporters in recent months.

The La Liga giants recently confirmed the appointment of ex-Holland national team boss Ronald Koeman as the side’s first-team coach. However, the former FC Barcelona defender has agreed upon a two-year deal with the Spanish club.

Farre was all praise for Koeman’s appointment by the Blaugrana, however, claimed that a number of conversations had already taken place with Klopp over hiring the German coach as the FC Barcelona boss.

“It is an exceptional moment and Koeman is a good solution considering that he is a legend of Barcelona.”

“Because of his character, I think that was what the club needed now. I wish him the best because the challenge is huge. If Koeman works and does it well, I would, of course.”

“Obviously, we have our roadmap and we had already started several conversations with Jürgen Klopp, because it seems to us that Barca need such a coach.”
