Former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho desiring a return to Anfield this summer

FC Barcelona’s out-of-favour attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho wants a return to Merseyside this summer with reports linking the Brazillian international with a switch to his former side ahead of the next season.

Coutinho had departed the Reds in January 2018 and had signed for FC Barcelona in a big-money deal but the player has been unable to emulate his Liverpool success while turning out for the Catalan giants.

Reports from Sport claim that Coutinho is desiring a reunion with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield in this summer’s transfer window as FC Barcelona are willing to entertain offers to offload the former Liverpool fan-favourite.

Despite Coutinho’s intentions of sealing a move back to the Premier League, it is understood that Klopp and Liverpool are in no position to approach FC Barcelona for their old player with the German coach set to shift his attention on other names on his shopping list.

Liverpool have been backed to use the transfer window to bring in a new midfield player following Gini Wijnaldum’s departure for PSG and the Merseysiders could also splash the cash on a new forward signing to make up for the potential exit of Divock Origi.
