The top 5 names on Jurgen Klopp’s mind to replace Gini Wijnaldum

The Reds gaffer Jurgen Klopp has another important transfer window ahead of him with the German entrusted with the task to find a suitable replacement for the now-Paris Saint-Germain player Gini Wijnaldum.

Wijnaldum’s departure from Anfield for the Parisians means that the Merseysiders now fall short of an important figure in the centre of the park who had been a driving force on the teamsheet since the summer of 2016.

With the ongoing UEFA European Championships underway across the continent, a few new names have emerged on Klopp’s radar for the summer window besides a couple of players previously having been scouted by the Anfield camp.

Here are 5 midfield names we believe are top on Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list for the summer-

1. Yves Bissouma

The most probable target linked with a summer switch to Anfield remains the Brighton first-team regular Yves Bissouma who has also courted significant attention from Arsenal this time around.

Bissouma was a pivotal presence in the centre of the park for Graham Potter’s men this past season in the Premier League and was surely a major reason why the Seagulls were able to survive the drop zone.

It should not be an expensive affair to sign the Mali international for Liverpool but Klopp will have a formidable foe in Arsenal who are line to pose a challenger to the German’s plans of landing Bissouma’s signature.

2. John McGinn

The Scotland midfielder is a new name that is speculated to be amongst those eyed up by Klopp to be a viable addition to the Liverpool midfield.

McGinn, like Bissouma, has the experience of the Premier League and his recent showings at the Euros are testament to his ability to anchor the midfield and play a major role should he be asked to play a further forward as a playmaker.

3. Youri Tielemans

The third and final name from the Premier League to be linked with an Anfield move is last season’s FA Cup-winning Leicester City hero Youri Tielemans who is currently with the Belgium squad at the Euros.

Amid his current contract standoff with the Foxes, there is talk of the Belgian midfield maestro seeking an exit from the King Power Stadium as Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly in line to make a move for him.

4. Florian Neuhaus

Borussia Monchengladbach’s midfield man Neuhaus has been heavily backed to sign for Liverpool in the summer after his superb campaign in the Bundesliga last season which has made some of the biggest clubs in Europe take note of his ability.

The Reds are poised to face a strong battle German giants Bayern Munich for Neuhaus’ signature with a €40 million fee understood to be Monchengladbach’s asking price for parting ways with their first-team talent.

5. Lorenzo Pellegrini

Spanish sides FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid look set to give stiff competition to Liverpool for the signature of the in-demand AS Roma man Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The Italy international is speculated to be seeking a move elsewhere this summer and Liverpool will find themselves in a three-way race to sign him should Jurgen Klopp deem the player to be a top target for his side.
