Liverpool FC look all set to lose out on their midfield star Gini Wijnaldum this summer as reports from The Sunday Times claim that the Dutchman is certain to sign for his long-term suitors FC Barcelona.
The La Liga giants have been intense in their chase for the Holland international whose deal with Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside outfit comes to a close at the conclusion of the 2020-21 campaign.
Talk is that the 30-year-old Wijnaldum has already agreed upon personal terms with FC Barcelona ahead of finalising the move to Camp Nou with the Spanish club recently confirming the appointment of Joan Laporta as the president after much anticipation.
The new inductee has sought to conduct business in a swift manner and Wijnaldum’s signature was of importance to the Catalan side after nearly a year of being involved in the battle to sign the Reds first-team regular.
Wijnaldum’s departure could open the door for Jurgen Klopp to bring in a fresh face to fill the void left by the long-serving Dutchman as the name of Sheffield United star Sander Berge does the rounds in recent weeks.
