Harvey Elliott’s Blackburn stint impresses club icon Kevin Gallacher

Premier League-winning Blackburn Rovers great Kevin Gallacher has been left impressed by on-loan Liverpool FC forward Harvey Elliott’s style of attacking play, something that Gallacher compared to that of Mohammad Salah’s.

Elliott, a highly promising talent in the Anfield ranks of Jurgen Klopp’s side, joined Blackburn Rovers this summer on a season-long loan. The reason behind the teenage starlet sealing a move to the Championship outfit was mainly due to gather more game-time at the senior level.

Despite Elliott’s inspiring run of first-team showings for the Merseyside Reds in the backend of last season, the Salah-Mane-Firmino trio, along with the summer purchase of Diogo Jota, meant that playing opportunities would be hard to come by for the England U19 international.

And upon his move to Blackburn, Elliott has proved to be a great purchase for the second-tier side, impressing spectators and pundits alike with his series of top displays over the past few months, which were echoed by Gallacher while speaking to the Blood Red podcast.

“Harvey is a young lad and he has come into the Championship and set out his stall. You can see that he has been training with Liverpool.

“He plays on the right-hand side of a front three for Blackburn, which suits him, because that is what he wants to do.

“For me, is mimicking Mohamed Salah and the way that he plays has been fantastic. He has been a breath of fresh air.

“When he cuts in, he can see the simple pass, or he can also play risk passes, which I like about him. He is also not scared to track back and do the ugly stuff, helping out defensively.

“Blackburn were really lucky to get him in because he is a quality young player and it is hard to believe he is only 17. Sometimes he is naive in certain aspects but the qualities he has are phenomenal.”

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool FC can only for Elliott’s impressive progression to continue over his season-loan stint at Blackburn before the youngster returns to Anfield for a more advanced role in the Reds setup.
