Injury Hit Reds Looking To Get Things Back On Track Against Huddersfield Town

After two weeks of long and awaiting international friendlies, Liverpool will make the trip to Huddersfield looking to make it seven wins in nine Premier League games.

After a flying start to the new season, Liverpool has hit somewhat of a crisis off late with just one win in five games across all competitions. And to add to that worry, Liverpool have a bit of an injury problem ahead of they’re away trip to the Kirklees Stadium on Saturday evening.

Last year’s Player of The Season Mohamed Salah has not hit the ground running and the Egyptian was taken off at Cairo during their clash against Swaziland and returned to Merseyside for treatment missing out of the reverse fixture. The medical reports state that the 26-year-old could return back  to football next week

Sadio Mane suffered a broken thumb during training with the Senegal national team not able to feature against Sudan. And the third African star to suffer a problem was Guinea’s Naby Keita who pulled up with a hamstring injury.

These three players are now in doubt for the clash against Huddersfield Town this weekend. However, Liverpool is sweating over the fitness of Netherlands captain Virgil Van Dijk. The commanding central defender is reported to have played with broken ribs by Dutch national coach Ronald Koeman but the former Everton manager has said that Van Dijk should be fit for the weekend encounter.

It’s unlikely that manager Jurgen Klopp will take any massive risks with his African superstars as a Champions League encounter against Red Star Belgrade awaits soon and may, therefore, look to play Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge in the front line instead. With the Terriers still looking for their first win of the season, I presume that Liverpool should not take them too lightly.

Predicted Liverpool Starting Eleven – Alisson, Trent Alexander Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Firmino, Sturridge.

Predicted Scoreline- Liverpool 3-1 Huddersfield Town
