‘It’s a great signing for us’- Liverpool star applauds Thiago’s world-class ability on the pitch

Liverpool FC’s back-up shot-stopper Adrian has backed new summer arrival, Thiago Alcantara, to flourish at Anfield, terming the Spanish international as a ‘world-class’ talent in midfield, in an interview to Liverpool FC’s official website.

The 29-year old Thiago signed for the Reds after it had become clear that he was keen on joining the Merseyside giants following a breakdown in contract negotiation talks with former club Bayern Munich. Liverpool FC too had been equally interested in making a move for the Spaniard, after the player indicated his refusal to sign for Manchester United.

Liverpool FC’s latest Premier League encounter last weekend, a 2-0 away victory at Chelsea, proved to be Thiago’s first appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side since his move to Anfield. The ex-FC Barcelona man’s debut display was, by all means, a fantastic showing in the centre of the park.

And Adrian has voiced his admiration for his fellow Spaniard’s ability on the pitch and the goalkeeper has claimed that Thiago’s addition to the Liverpool FC first-team squad will be of great help to the club as a whole over the course of this season.

“He’s a top player, he has quality, he has [a] great pass, great shot, vision of the game – a different one. So he gives us a lot of help. This season is going to be tough and he gives us that quality that he has.

“Obviously part of this is a great player, fits really well into the dressing room, speaks very good English, so no problem at all. I think he’s going to enjoy this season, the first season with us.

Thiago’s winning mentality and the great number of titles he has won in his time at FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich proves that the player’s signing is a fantastic one for the Reds, expressed Adrian.

“He’s a winner. You see his career, he won a lot of titles because obviously he was in a top team like Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He likes to win, he came here to win, to try to win all the titles we are facing this season.

“It’s a great signing for us and I think he’s going to help us a lot.
