Jamie Carragher hits out at Curtis Jones for his ‘sloppy’ display against West Brom

Liverpool FC midfield sensation Curtis Jones had a rare off day in the centre of the park for the Merseysiders when going up against West Brom on Sunday as the Baggies walked away from Anfield with a point in the bag.

In the aftermath of the game, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher blasted the youngster for his ‘sloppy’ showing in letting Sam Allardyce’s side equalise late on in the game to snatch a 1-1 draw.

Having taken the lead through Sadio Mane’s fantastic opening goal in the first half, Allardyce’s men were relentless in their pursuit to find the back of the Liverpool FC net, finally succeeding when a short corner routine in the 82nd minute presented Semi Ajayi with the chance to head the ball past Alisson Becker.

Jones’ inefficiency in dealing with the build-up play to the corner kick was pointed out by ex-Red Carragher, with the Sky Sports pundit being vocal of his criticism regarding Liverpool FC’s failure to secure all three points from their showdown against the relegation candidates West Brom.

‘It’s nothing new when teams come to Anfield and defend [in numbers].

‘It is difficult to create when there are so many men behind the ball, but it’s important not to give the opposition a chance.

‘It was sloppy from Curtis Jones. It was Liverpool’s own making, really,’ said Carragher, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
