Jamie Carragher says midfield talent Jude Bellingham will transform Liverpool

Anfield great Jamie Carragher reckons that the English midfield talent Jude Bellingham will transform Liverpool should he sign for the Reds.

Bellingham remains the top name on the shopping list for the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp who is desperate to reinforce his midfield roster at the end of the season and has identified Bellingham as the go-to signing.

Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, the ex-Red Carragher has said that Bellingham could prove to be the answer to Liverpool’s prayers in the same way as Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk made their mark on Merseyside.

“If Liverpool were to get Jude Bellingham over the line, I think it would be reminiscent of what Virgil van Dijk was. It could be a game-changer. Virgil van Dijk proved to be that and everyone is excited about just watching Jude Bellingham, no matter where he ends up. I’m sure every club would want him and whoever he signs for, he would be huge.

“The two big-money signings for Liverpool have been Alisson and Virgil van Dijk and they proved to be absolute masterstrokes, even though they were expensive. You look back at the fees Liverpool paid and they now look cheap. Whoever gets their hands on Jude Bellingham, it will be a big price but I think you will be looking back in five or six years and thinking it was a bargain.”

Bellingham’s showings for England at the World Cup have made his club Borussia Dortmund increase the asking price, according to the rumour mill, which could spell out trouble for Liverpool.

The Anfield camp have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old maestro since the turn of the year but have been joined in the chase by Premier League rivals Manchester United and the European champions Real Madrid.
