On the back of what was a largely insignificant transfer window in terms of incomings at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp is understood to be bullish over his options in the centre of the park.
Liverpool were heavily linked with a host of midfield names from across Europe’s biggest leagues with the rumour mill suggesting that Klopp was on the hunt for his outgoing anchorman Gini Wijnaldum’s replacement.
The German, however, did not pursue a move for any of his target names with the close of the summer window this Tuesday meaning that Liverpool added only the centre-back Ibrahima Konate to their first-team roster.
A report from The Athletic’s James Pearce claims that despite Wijnaldum’s high-profile departure from the Anfield camp, Klopp has retained his faith in his current options with the young Harvey Elliott also tipped for a major breakout role.
The uncertainty surrounding Jordan Henderson’s future was brought to a close when the skipper finally put the pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Anfield just ahead of deadline day.
