Jurgen Klopp Backs Mohamed Salah Ahead Of PSG Clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has stated that Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah will be among the top players against Paris Saint Germain.

The Reds have made the trip to the French capital to face Paris Saint Germain in a crunch fixture which could decide the qualification for both sides into the next round. The Parc Des Princes pitch will be filled with world-class superstars from both teams and this game should be an incredible encounter.

Liverpool reached the Champions League final last season and elimination now could be humiliating considering that Klopp has added re-enforcements to his squad. For PSG, the big money spenders have never really made an impact on the continental stage and will be hoping to turn that around this time.

With a forward line boasting of hitman Edinson Cavani flanked by Brazilian star winger Neymar and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe, PSG’s attack is a formidable unit, but the opposition line up is no less, says Jurgen Klopp.

While speaking to the Guardian, the German boss praised his 26-year-old Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah for his overall performance and his goal drought, but Salah has addressed those critics with six goals in his last seven games. “It is not about Salah’s goalscoring but his overall performance. The body is back, 100%, the physical things he can rely on. Of all the teams, we had the longest season with Real Madrid.

After banging in 44 goals in his first season at Merseyside, Klopp added that it would be difficult to replicate a similar feat but Salah is still world class, “Will he score 40 goals again? Is it even important to score 40 goals again? Of course not. He always tried everything. The only thing was his body needed time to adapt. Still a world-class player, still a threat in a game, but in the scoring situations, not the same calmness or the same coolness. But since before the last international break, it was completely obvious in each training session it had clicked again. He’s there. People need time but you, we, don’t give them time because we don’t have time”

Salah will be a big threat to the Paris Saint Germain defense as his showings are usually top notch. However, one problem for Salah is that he is missing too many opportunities but he seems to have found his lost goalscoring touch as Klopp mentioned.
