Jurgen Klopp confident over solving Jordan Henderson’s contract deadlock

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson’s future at Anfield has attracted much speculation since the midfielder’s contract extension talks suffered an unlikely breakdown earlier this summer.

Talk of the 31-year-old England international calling quits on Merseyside as early as this summer’s transfer window with PSG and Juventus in the fray for the player gained ground.

Henderson made a late return to the Liverpool fold in the pre-season camp this summer with the midfielder being handed an extended holiday after his commitments with the England squad at the UEFA European Championships.

While speaking to the club’s official website, the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, however, has played down such rumours of Henderson’s exit with the German having his say on the contract deadlock situation ahead of Liverpool’s opening day matchup at Carrow Road against Norwich City.

Klopp emphasised the importance of solving Henderson’s contract renewal situation sooner rather than later with the Liverpool gaffer saying that there should be no doubt that the club will make attempts to work out the recent state of affairs.

“Important, but it will happen.”

“We will sort it, we will sort it – however it will be then. But we will sort it, no doubt about that. It will get sorted.”
