Jurgen Klopp confirms minor injury setback for Liverpool midfielder

Despite Liverpool FC’s wonderful Sunday afternoon in West London that saw the Premier League champions rack up their second win of the new season with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea, Jordan Henderson’s speculated injury blow might cause some worry among the club’s top management.

The Reds’ skipper was withdrawn from the pitch at the close of the opening 45 minutes with the score still nil-nil. Liverpool FC’s new midfield recruit Thiago Alcantara took Henderson’s place in the midfield trio and was superb in his debut game for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, now it is being reported that the 30-year old Henderson had, in fact, sustained a knock and was taken off the field as a mere precaution, with Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp confirming the same in his post-match conference following the game at Stamford Bridge.

Klopp said: ‘Jordan said he had a knock and I told him not to carry on because we didn’t want to take a risk with him.’

Liverpool FC supporters will all be anxious about their captain’s quick recovery from the supposed minor injury blow and will be hoping that the tireless midfielder stages a return as early as the Reds’ upcoming EFL Cup tie against Lincoln City scheduled for later this week.
