Jurgen Klopp dismisses need to sign a new midfielder this summer

Jurgen Klopp played down the need to sign a new midfielder this summer with the Liverpool head coach more than happy with his current stock of options.

The majority of the Liverpool fanbase has sounded out that the club requires another midfield player to reinforce the roster but Klopp asserted that no plans were in place for further recruitment in what remains of the transfer window.

As quoted by a report from The Independent, the Reds boss claimed that should there be no outgoings, which appears unlikely heading into the new season, he would not be dipping into the market for a fresh face.

“If the situation stays like it is, then tell me why?

“I don’t understand. I do not understand. People told me about this discussion, but the last thing that would have crossed my mind is that we have to do this [sign a midfielder].

Unless anyone asks to leave, and no one has, he is not looking to buy. “I can say that.”

Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham has been one name heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer with the England international courting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs following his stellar displays in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool, however, are looking to move in for the highly-rated midfield talent in 2023 with Dortmund firm on their decision to retain Bellingham this time around after parting ways with Erling Haaland.
