Jurgen Klopp explains Curtis Jones’ progress as a first-team player for Liverpool

Curtis Jones’ progress in the Liverpool FC senior squad has been praised by his coach Jurgen Klopp in the latter’s statements to the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com

Jones made his breakthrough at Anfield in the backend of last season, one which saw the Reds end a 30-year-long wait for Premier League title-winning glory, and was awarded a winners medal himself as a result of him featuring in five or more league fixtures.

Even this season, the 19-year old midfield talent has continued his exciting development in the Liverpool FC shirt by becoming a regular fixture for the Anfield giants in previous EFL Cup fixtures, most notably the 7-2 rout of Lincoln City a fortnight ago, which saw Jones score two fantastic goals.

In his pre-game interview ahead of Liverpool FC’s visit to Aston Villa, Klopp gave assurance to the fact that Jones was indeed a ‘proper, proper part of this squad’ and would keep on monitoring the youngster’s progress as a future star-player for the Merseyside outfit.

“On a personal level, on a football level – it’s really nice being around when a big, big, big talent, young talent, grows up pretty much and matures over the time. It’s really nice to be around and that’s what I enjoy a lot.

“Curtis, I have to say is just a proper, proper part of this squad, which is really already an achievement, if you want. Nothing you want to tell your grandkids [about], because if it’s the best thing you ever did in your life it’s not so nice. But for the age group he is in, it’s massive.

With Alex Oxlade Chamberlain being a long-term injury absence for Liverpool FC in the coming months, an opportunity should fall Jones’ path to prove his worth yet again to his side and the midfield starlet will be gearing up for such an occasion.
