Jurgen Klopp dropped a hint that James Milner could be on the move with speculation linking the midfielder with a transfer to Brighton ahead of this summer.
The former Leeds United and Manchester City man’s terms with Liverpool were up for renewal at the end of the season but the former England international reportedly decided against penning a new deal.
Liverpool too had been keen to part company with several first team midfield names as Klopp looks to freshen things up in the engine room for his side before the next season gets underway.
Brighton, who are harbouring ambitions of a European football finish this season in the Premier League, have swooped in for Milner’s services with an agreement between the two parties believed to have struck.
Milner’s exit from the Anfield fold was seemingly conceded by his manager Klopp, as quoted by a report from The Daily Mirror, with the latter voicing huge praise for the versatile veteran who will leave Liverpool after an eight-year-long stint.
“[Milner] I can say over the last few months I had really good conversations with him. He knows how highly I value him, he’s an incredible part of the team and I would have loved to work together with him even longer.
“But the exact outcome of his decision, I think Milly will say that – I don’t know if it happened yet or not. Nothing else to say from me. Nothing in the last seven-and-a-half years of the positive things would have happened without James Milner.”
