Jurgen Klopp issues update over the return of three star players for Liverpool

Fabinho and Alisson Becker are in the reckoning to stage a return to the Liverpool FC first-team fold ahead of the defending champions playing hosts to Chelsea later this week in top-flight football, confirmed Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool FC gaffer was answering questions from the media, as reported from the club’s official website, in the aftermath of steering his team to much-needed winning ways with a 2-0 away triumph at Sheffield United and Klopp voiced hopes of Jota joining his returning teammates for the game against the Blues.

Jota had been snapped earlier on his return to team training but the Portugal international was surprisingly not a part of the matchday squad that made the visit to Bramall Lane last weekend.

“Alisson and Fabinho, I’m pretty sure [will be available].

“With Diogo, he was with us in the hotel, but he got sick overnight and we had to send him home. It depends how quick he will recover, obviously.

“He was in the squad and as I said before, he trained with the team and it all looked really good but unfortunately he got sick overnight. I think he will be available, but I don’t know.”

The top-flight fixture against fellow German Thomas Tuchel’s West London outfit would be a much sterner test for Klopp, with both Chelsea and Liverpool FC battling it out amongst themselves to secure the top-four finish come the end of this campaign.

Under Tuchel, the Blues have seemingly gotten back to their best on the back of an impressive streak of solid defensive showings carrying them to decent results week in and week out.
