Jurgen Klopp provides update on Jordan Henderson and Thiago’s potential return

The midfield duo of Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara could be in the fray for a return to the football pitch come Saturday at Anfield when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side welcome Burnley.

In his comments to the club’s official website ahead of the weekend clash against Sean Dyche’s Clarets outfit, Klopp admitted that Henderson and Thiago were in line to get the nod on the squad selection front.

The players looked good in training, says the Liverpool boss

Klopp said that the final decision to draft the midfield pairing on the teamsheet rests with him but added that both Henderson and Thiago had looked good in team training heading into Saturday’s Anfield showdown.

The Liverpool manager’s remarks come on the back of the Henderson-Thiago duo featuring for the Merseyside giants in the recent behind closed doors friendly fixture against Aston Villa.

“They are much closer, yes. They look fine, now we have to make the decision.

“They looked really good in the game and looked good in the training week, so it’s up to me to make some decisions.”

Klopp refused to divulge much on Fabinho’s situation

Klopp remained coy over the speculation regarding Fabinho’s availability for the upcoming fixture following the Brazilian’s father passing away earlier this week.

The midfield man had come off the bench for Liverpool during their opening day win against the league’s new boys Norwich City.

“I would like to say it’s a private situation.”

“Fab is here and is doing what he is able to do and that’s it pretty much.

“We all feel for him, we all feel with him and we give him and his family our condolences. We try to give him all the warmth, all the love we have in this moment and that’s it, the rest is private.”
