Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted that Naby Keita’s injury against Manchester United will be subject to further examination after the midfielder was stretchered off the pitch on Sunday.
Paul Pogba’s lunging challenge on Keita early on in the second half left the Liverpool man on the ground and had to leave the pitch on a stretcher which marked an end to his influential showing.
Keita opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp’s men on their travels to Old Trafford over the weekend with the midfielder set up by Mohamed Salah to give Liverpool an early advantage inside the opening five minutes.
The 26-year-old returned the favour to Salah as he registered an assist for the latter’s strike with the Merseysiders running out thumping victors over Manchester United with a 5-0 scoreline.
In his post-match remarks after his side’s win, Klopp revealed that he could not confirm the extent of Keita’s injury trouble with further tests awaited in the forthcoming days.
“We have to see how serious it is [Keita’s injury]. Very painful. We will know more tomorrow or the day after. Naby is in a great moment. He’s an outstanding player.”
